I spent some time this evening before it got dark playing with my camera in the yard. Subsequently, I played with the pictures once I brought them in and put them on the computer. What I have decided from tonight's project is that I really want CS4. Photoshop 7 just doesn't cut it any more. It's biggest drawback is that it can not open RAW files. So, I have to view my RAW files in Picasa (yes, the free photo editor) and then save them as JPEGs in order for Photoshop to open them. Oh, and another thing that I need is a macro lens - my lens stinks when it comes to getting in close and it drives me nuts! Guess I should start saving all my pennies. :( Anyways, here are some pictures with Yankee and the plants as my subjects.
We finished the chair rail in our study and living room last week. We also painted all the walls under the chair rail white - prepping them for our faux wainscoting treatment. Since we tore off the old chair rail and moved the new chair rail up higher we did some damage to the drywall. We thought paint might hide the imperfections but it doesn't. So, alas, we have some repair work to do to our walls as well. So we'll have pictures when those two rooms are complete! But for now here are some pictures of our kitchen. We tore out the old chair rail and put up new chair rail this evening. You can see from the pictures the damage the old chair rail does to the wall - ugh! It is looking good though. :)
I would love to win this quilt kit to start my sewing adventures! Isn't it so cute!? This fun quilt blog that I found is giving it away - I hope I win!
Last week flew by! My mom came to visit for a couple of days and it was so much fun! We went shopping ALOT and just hung out. She bought me my birthday present a little early...a sewing machine! Now I have no idea what I am doing yet but I hope to learn and become handy enough to do fun projects (nothing too complicated!).
But the weekend before we celebrated the 4th of July with an old fashioned picnic with some friends, listening to the NC Symphony and watching the fireworks (and sitting in traffic forever but we won't dwell on that part..). Here are some pictures from the 4th of July.
Mike and I decided a few weeks ago that the chair rail in our house needed to be replaced. The old chair rail wasn't real chair rail - is is the backing that you put behind chair rail. So we are starting in the office and then we'll move onto the living room. The office is almost done - here it is mid-process.
